| I have been trying to give up porn. In the last few months I have not downloaded any pictures. As a substitute I have been taking pictures of myself. I look at them for a while and then delete them. No one elese sees them. Is this wrong? Is it a sin? What does the Bible say about it. Should I stop? Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Niccola, have you seen a counselor who either specializes in female sexual addiction or women's issues in general? That is my first question and it would be my recommendation to do such.
As for whether or not your recent habit is a sin or wrong, I'd like to ask you:
-What do you think?
-Do you feel convicted by your behavior?
-Does you think your behavior bears fruit in your life or others?
-Does it glorify God?

Okay, so you're a man, but does your gender really matter here? Do you think it does? And if so, how and why?
You obviously could have answered these questions for your own reflection and growth.  Personally, I'd still like to read your thoughtful response to my original questions.

| Yes I am. I thought this was a public forum and I was hoping to get responses from more people. So far the only response I'v gotten are more questions. Does this mean that no one else has done what I am doing? Or does no one else car? Are they too wraped up in there own struggles?

| No you are not alone. And we have no right to judge you as our own perversions have deeply rooted themselves in us as well. I used to videotape myself alone, making my own porn I figured. But what I was doing, what your doing, is not pleasing to God. If we are a Christians and are trying to serve God, we have to flee all unrightousness. We can't keep justifying our behavior. I hope you don't take this as me judging you because I did the same thing. It is just a conclusion I have come to at this point in my recovery.

Niccola, the questions are being asked to see where you are with the Lord. When you read through the posts of those who want help here, they're sharing of the pain and shame of what they're going through, and how they want to change. This wasn't evident in your first post, which I'm sure prompted the questions from Steve; to see where you are in your walk with the Lord, and to see if you're wanting to stop what you're doing.
Normally, when someone is walking with the Lord, there's conviction and emotional turmoil when they're doing something that's sinful. When Steve asked if you felt convicted and you replied that "you didn't know what that meant," it causes one to pause and wonder where you are in your walk with Christ.
These questions aren't meant to intimidate or judge, but to help us help you - and to help you take a hard look at your relationship with the Lord, and what you're doing.
Looking an image of a naked person is lust, as Jesus mentioned in Matthew 5; whether it's of yourself or another person is irrelevant; you're still using an image to get a hit off of. We've all had sex with ourselves, or done other things like that. It's not healthy emotionally or spiritually, and causes sex and self obsession. It's giving worship to the self that we should be giving to God.

| I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one, now I feel less wierd. Have you managed to quit doing it? Maybe we could be accountability partners. There must be more like us, maybe we could start a support group. What do you think?
