My name is Philip, I'm 27 years old and have been addicted to pornography for over ten years. I'm married and love my wife (a great way to show it, huh?). We have a girl on the way in a month and I'm overjoyed, excited and very scared that I will pass on this addiction or worse.
I trust God to free me and I know I need help. We now have the internet at home again and again I just looked at some porn. I'm willing to try some accountability and hopefully mentorship (discipleship) online, but I hope and pray God will send a Godly man I can meet with.
Any questions or suggestions are welcome!

Hi Philip,
Welcome to BG. You will find many here who share your struggles, and will pray for you.
Does your wife know? If not, it is important to start thinking about how and when to tell her, and enlist her support and encouragement in your recovery. Hiding serious recovery efforts is about as difficult, perhaps more so, than hiding the addiction itself. I freely acknowledge that late pregnancy and early postpartum may not be the best times to share this information, as it is already an emotional time.
Setting Captives Free
is a free online Bible study which many have found to be a helpful tool on the path to freedom. Filtering/accountability software can also be a helpful tool, but it is only an external barrier, and does not bring change and healing on the inside, which is where healing and renewal must happen for lasting victory.
Praying for you...

Thanks for the reply! My wife actually does know about the addiction, I told her when we first started dating that I struggled with it. I don't always tell her when I fall because it hurts so much, but have told her many times along the way. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems I need some others besides my loving, supportive wife to help me out with the accountability part, but let me know what you think.
I've become kind of an expert on addiction (not getting out of it, unfortunately) and have been freed from a drug and alcohol addiction after much pain and suffering as well. God used a treatment program, called Teen Challenge for that, but it's hard to find something like that for sexual addiction as there is no way to get completely away from it: Even in a place with no computers or magazines or even women, I still have my old body and mind. I suppose that's where the "renewing of the mind" comes in, but I need help with that.
Yeah, the internet filter is kind of pointless for me as Io know dozens of ways around it and it just becomes frustrating.
Thanks for the link as well, I'm checking that out now....

Hi Philip,
Yes, local human accountability, other than your wife, is optimal. This site has changed administration recently, and apparently not all of the resources were passed along to the new folks, but somewhere in the Colorado Springs area, (which I have no idea how far that is from you,) there is a group called Strength in Numbers, but it might take some detective work to locate them, as meeting info was never posted here, for annonymity reasons.
Another program which many have found helpful is
Celebrate Recovery.
There are, of course, various groups in the "annonymous" spectrum, which is "higher power" based instead of specifically Christ-centered.
Should you feel able to be vulnerable with your pastor, he may also know of local resources.

I have tried finding accountability partners with no luck. I haven't been able to locate a Celebrate Recovery group in my area, nor was I able to find any info on "Strength in Numbers" except for a group of gays called the same thing.
Any help in this area would be appreciated. You can message me or whatever if it can't be listed on this forum.

hey buddy, good job on getting help before it's too late. That is a strength of character I did not posess. May your journey to purity be swift and your light break forth like the dawn!!! You can make it and you are worth it. I have also found this link on these forums http://www.joelandkathy.com/boards which you might find helpful. I am going to buy these books myself. God bless you brother!!!!!!!!!!!
