I'm reading through "Breaking Free" by Russell Willingham for a second time. I highly recommend this book for those seeking freedom from sexual addiction. Willingham really does a great job of getting into the "nitty gritty" of the addiction and has a well-balanced view about the emotional, spiritual and practical aspects of recovery.
Has anyone else read it? Any comments?

I read through Chapter 9 titled, "The Courage To Be Broken." It was very helpful and challenging to me!
How often do you live your life as a "together" Christian, when the reality is you're in denial about the brokeness and powerlessness you have over your life? To be honest, my answer to that question is: Often!
Best wishes to all today. Stay free!

Never read it, that's exactly the issue I'm dealing with in myself - facing the fear of accepting my own brokeness... I guess I could find it on Amazon.com. Thanks for the reference.

I am challenged on so many levels in life, but I think the matter of accepting my brokeness and joyfully taking my hurts/wounds/cares to God is something I have only "scratched the surface" of fully embracing.
Just curious, did you ever obtain the book? It really is a good one, IMO.

Okay you got me hooked... I'm going have to put this one on the list. This is one of the main areas I struggle (and always have in every part of my walk...) Thinking I know what's better for me than the King of the Universe...
Thanks!

I keep going back to this book, again and again. In Breaking Free RW is brave, open and doesn't hold anything back. This book has helped me to see deeper than just acting out and is helping me to see 'why'.
One thing I have found that is that when I have purchased a new book about this stuff I am hoping that it will just fix things, although no book can do this...(off course it can't)
Breaking Free really has been a resource and helped me to get back up on my feet when I have fallen and helps me see a little better. It has chellenged me to be a real man and be less afraid of saying how I feel to the one who made me.
I have real issues with faith/beleif and trust in God sometimes and becuase this book is 'real' is helps me with this too.Last edited on Mon Feb 26th, 2007 09:25 pm by holdsworth
