hey for me Christian music is the catalyst, I mean sometimes I have a battle to just put it on , but after I do, God comes into the room, and I  find strength, and than I just want to praise Him, and maybe than I will start praying, and maybe than I will start reading His word praise God!:D  today was one of those days where I was stuggling to do what was right  so I made the decision to put on some praise music and than I started to praise Him and than I got into prayer , now I know I'm repeating my self, but what can, I say I thank God for Christian music              thanks for reading and I pray it helps , it helps me standstrong:D

Hey everyone here.  I won't be on as much since we're traveling over Christmas, but please know I will pray, even though I can't state it here, and have a Blessed Christmas.........praying you'll all experience the reality of the Savior's love for you in whatever place you find yourselves!  :D

With care,

Music is such a powerful influencer in my life.  There are so many songs that inspire me to know him closer.  I can't help but feel that sometimes, listening to music is as important in my spiritual life as prayer or reading.

You know, this is true for me as well.....and songs that are not only About God, but like prayers TO God.....worshiping Him......declaring Him to be Holy, Holy, Holy.....Worthy, Worthy, Worthy........Songs which worship Him directly have been especially powerful....and songs I can sing while I drive, shop, work, etc....to keep my heart in an attitude of worship!  The song, "Here I Am to Worship" has been especially meaningful to me.  I think it's because, in listening, I enter into this worship, the "demons" and lies flee in the presence of praise and truth, and God, not the enemy, is declared in my heart and in the heavenlies, to be my stronghold and fortress and strength, not my own flesh.  Plus, this morning I read that He loves those who love Him.  In worship, I enter the throne room of grace through His blood......I'm convicted of sin.....I confess and feel His cleansing touch and love and am empowered and strengthened to walk afresh in His presence by the Spirit....to respond in love to Him.....to BE in love WITH Him, above all, in a way which stirs a pure and genuine love for others above myself, especially family members.  He is so amazing and music such a gift from Him to us!!! :D

As I'm typing this I'm listening to The Waiting "blue belly sky" which probably wouldn't be considered a praise and worship CD but I love the words of their songs.  Makes me feel closer to god every time.

blue belly sky is the name of the album.  They are a Christian group and the album is full of christian songs.  As I said, I definitely get a lot out of their music.

hey brother Matt and all who veiw this page I just wanted to tie a previous verse of scripture to the one I recalled yesterday and that Isaih 10.27 that the anointing breaks the yoke of bondage ,and 1 Samuel16.23 how that when David played the harp for king Saul it refreshed Saul and the evil spirit departed from him, so keep listening to that Christian music. your brother Standingstrong:D

Really cool stuff!  God is so good!  Thanks for those verses!!!:)

Hey, I forgot to share it previously, but I also really like Passion.....these CD's include the music of several artists like The David Crowder Band and others to form what's known as Passion.  They play for college gatherings and other such things!

Blessings and prayers in Jesus to all! :D

My wife writes and sings Christian music.  During the deepest waters of my addiction to pornography she would find solace in writing music from the Lord as a channel for her hurt.  During that same time I heard a very powerful sermon on the bruised reed, from Isa. 42:3, "A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench..."  Never before had I heard a sermon on that text, but when I did, WOW.  It broke me and showed me the tenderness and love of God, even in the Old Testament (who many wrongfully say lacks love).

The sermon itself was preached by a very godly South African evangelist named Keith Daniel.  It is online if anyone wants to hear it.  This link should take you there: http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=4248

The title is "Are You a Bruised Reed?"  You'll be glad you listened.

After I heard that sermon I asked my wife to write a song about it.  She did and today it remains her favorite.  It's a reminder of God's love for her and me, and for His desire to heal me completely from this sin and completely restore our marriage.  He has done a great deal of good work in our hearts and marriage.  We have a long way to go, but God is working.  We both know God wants our marriage to be all it can be for Him.  Anyway, if you would like to hear the song you can click here: http://www.abigailmiller.com/audio/abigailmiller_thebruisedreed.mp3

I hope it ministers to your hearts.  God bless.

Standingstrong, Christian music is a catalyst for me too.  It does break down barriers to worship that might be caused by all sorts of things, including lethargy, laziness, spiritual oppression, etc.  I have listened this evening for over an hour to some modern praise worship music. A far cry from my usual diet of classical music but it really is a release to listen to it.  I feel a new man.   Here are some that especially got me dancing and worshipping today:

Paul Baloche, Ed Kerr, Celebrate The Lord of Love (Integrity's Hosanna! Music, 1995), from album Rivers of Joy, worship leader Don Moen.
Graham Kendrick: For This Purpose. 1 John 3:8. (Make Way Music, 1985), from album army of God, worship leader Randy Rothwell.
Martin J Nystrom and Don Harris, As The Deer (Integrity's Hosanna! Music), from album We Draw Near, worship leader Marty Nystrom
Paul Baloche: Open the eyes of my heart (Integrity's Hosanna! Music, 1997). From album, Open the eyes of my heart, featuring Paul Baloche
Kevin Dukas, Marsha Skidmore: Like Eagles (Crooked letter music, & Integrity's Praise! Music, 2000). From album "I will Sing" featuring Don Moen.
Matt Redman, Martin Smith: It's Rising Up (Kingsway's Thankyou Music, 1995) from album, Passion For Your Name, featuring Matt Redman
Michael W Smith, Agnus Dei (Alleluia) (Milene Music Inc, 1990) from album, No Higher Calling, featuring Ross Parsley
Robin Mark: Revival (Daybreak Music Ltd, 1998), from album, Revival in Belfast, featuring Robin Mark
Chris Tomlin, Louis Giglio, Jesse Reeves, Kindness (Worshiptogether.com, 2000) from the album New Songs for Spring Harvest, 2001, featuring Esther Alexander
Matt Redman: The Heart of Worship (Kingsway's Thankyou Music, 1997), from album Intimacy, featuring Matt Redman.

Just a few recommendations to those who like Christian worship music of the last few decades. Stephen

Thanks for the url, Peter. Cyber Hymnal looks like a huge website.  It states the following on the home page: "You'll find lyrics, scores, midi files, pictures, history, and scores. To use this site effectively, you'll need speakers, a sound card and a browser that supports Java script and XHTML, and can play midi files."  I don't know if my antique pc will cope but I will give a try tomorrow.   Here are some of my favourite hymns by first line.  Tunes may differ:-

John Newton (1725-1807) Amazing Grace!  I hear there is a film coming soon about Newton.
John Newton: Glorious things of Thee are spoken, Zion city of our God!
Samuel Crossman (1624-84): My song is love unknown, My Saviour's love to me
Charles Wesley (1707-88) And Can it be that I should gain
Caroline M Noel (1817-77) At the name of Jesus
Mary E Byrne (1880-1931) & Eleanor H. Hull (1860-1936): Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart
Matthew Bridges (1800-94) & Godfrey Thring (1823-1903): Crown Him with many Crowns
John G Whittier (1807-92): Dear Lord and Father of mankind
Lyra Davidica (1708), Charles Wesley: Christ the Lord is risen today: Allelujah!
William Williams (1717-91), Tr. Peter Williams (1727-96): Guide me o thou great Jehovah
Thomas O. Chisholm (1866-1960): Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father

Just a few.  Many more.  Stephen

My Sins My Sins, My Savior
   By Steve Camp

My sins, my sins, my Saviour! They daily battle me,
Deaf and dumb Thy servant is, save only Christ to Thee;
In Thee is all forgiveness, fully free abundant grace,
I find my hope and refuge, in Thine unchanging face

My sins, my sins, my Saviour! How great on Thee they fall;
Seen through Thy patient mercy, I ought forsake them all;
Their penalty's forgiven; yet their power suffers me
Their shame and guilt and anguish, they laid, my Lord, on Thee

My sins, my sins, my Saviour! What cost to Thee ensued
Thy heel bruised in temptation, no Devil could subdue
Thou wrestled in the garden; and prayed the Cup would pass
Thy sanguine sweat, Thou trembled yet, embraced His will at last

My sins, my sins, my Saviour! Thou perfect Sacrifice
Drained wrath's chalice to the dregs; Thy Father satisfied.
O Holy Lamb of Glory, High Priest, Lord God and King
We worship Thee with reverence, Thy matchless Name we sing

My songs, my songs, my Saviour! No grandeur theme shall know
They'll trumpet of Thy glory, to wretched man below;
Thy righteousness, Thy favor, stream from Thy throne above
Sustain the hearts my Saviour that Thou hast lavished with Thy love

(You can download this song from the AudienceONE website
at our online store or listen to it on today's blogcast as well.)
