I have been unemployed since last August. I'm still uncomfortable with the whole job search process, so when I submit a resume or interview over the phone or in person (I've only had a handful of interviews), I feel I fall so far short. Last week I had a phone interview, and he told me he wanted to meet with me. However, he has since canceled and rescheduled once, and then canceled again (but his secretary said she'd get back to me about a new date to meet). That was Wednesday, and still no call. My wife and I have been wondering what it's all about, and while we want to believe the best about him, it's hard not to think the worst. If I'm not the one, then tell me. I've been told that before. Don't keep me hanging. It's times like these when I start seeing lust as "justifiable." Of course, please pray most of all that I would stay close to God and honor Him in and through all things. And then please pray that this situation would be resolved one way or the other. Thank you.

Rom517mm,

Sorry to hear you've been out of work for that time.  I know it's tough, especially more so if you are a provider (have family).

My last paid job ended beginning of August 2005 and since then was diagnosed with a disability that effectively makes me unemployable in most job situations.  Am looking at self-employment as an option if a back to work scheme doesn't produce results this year.

Will remember to pray for your job and circumstance.

Well, I had an interview today. Got totally lost going there (it's in an area unfamiliar to me), and I ended up being late. The interviewer was very gracious, and we talked for an extended time (it seemed to go fairly well), but I couldn't help but think that "if only I had gotten there on time," because in my mind I'm already out of the running. I prayed, "Lord, You know I tried my best. It's in your hands." A friend at church mentioned a possible opening, so he's going to get back to me.

greetings room,

i hope you take this as loving criticism  but:

employers do NOT like potential employees to be late for their interview.
next time i would recommend driving to the exact location before hand.
if too far away , get a hotel room the night before.

have copies of a 1- 2  page resume with short comments w/notes of further details upon request, in your car in a folder at all times.
no employer wants to read through a 20 page resume the first time.

say something in your resume that "pops"

ie.) my years of high school/college football have taught me teamwork and discipline.

so:

DO NOT BE LATE.  :D

peter

I realize now I should not have fully counted on the online directions to get me there. I guess they were accurate, but when you're actually on the road it looks different than described on screen/paper. I also know that my lateness could turn out to be fatal (but it is a very hard lesson learned!)

My resume was only one page, and I thought I did OK in bringing out some of the more relevant points.
