| Does the damage done to your soul and spirit ever go away. I'm not a virgin, I screwed that up, I screwed up with my sex addiction and I'm aware of changes in my attitude towards intimacy... or the lack thereof excitement for marriage or feel for it. How long does it take, will I ever recover?

Hi TV,
Again, I feel short of answers. If you have sought God's forgiveness, he has removed your sin as far as the east is from the west. Now it is time to work on forgiving yourself, the more difficult of the two tasks. Beating yourself up over forgiven acts is playing right in to the enemy's hand. None of us can change the past. We can ask forgiveness of any others we have hurt. Beyond that, today is a new day, and while the memories may take a while to fade, and will never be completely erased, it is the choices of each new day over which we do have control and with which we begin to be the person we long to be.

| Here's my take: Jesus' blood washes the soul and spirit clean, and we don't dredge up old trash that he's covered. But I think I'll keep needing help with changing my emotional deficits, learning intimacy, changing old habits into good ones. Thus, the need for recovery groups, maybe counseling, etc., to learn and reinforce good habits. God is quick to forgive, but it's miserable to be forgiven today, then fall tomorrow because our habits haven't truly changed. I know, I've been there too many times...
