This Song is to be patterned after "The House of the Rising Sun" --
in the style ike Bob Dylan sung it (where he sings as if it was written by a girl)
This one I am writing from my heart (a guy)
Maybe it will end with some of the very same words from John Newton's
"Amazing Grace" (Amazing Grace is sometimes sung to this tune)
I hope "my version" can end that way ...
........................
There is a vice, "Adults Only"
they call just innocent fun
It's been the ruin of many a poor boy
and me, Oh God, I'm one.
...
The folks who profit from this trade
use instinct against their prey
with our flaming lusts they fasten us
to our ball and chain
...
Just when I think
a bit more wont hurt
I learn it may be too late
Cause I take the bait and I can't let go
of the sin I know I should hate
...
Darkness for me, is "Adults only"
it shuns the light of the Sun
short pleasures aren't worth the long misery
of the so called, "just innocent fun"
...
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
will God save this wretch, this me?
I have hurt those I thought I loved most
with "innocent fun" of "Adults Only"

dennis,
is it the pain you have caused that is causing your emotional distress?

Peter,
Perhaps from times over half a year ago now. I'm not aware of causing anyone other than myself much pain since late April of 2007 (at least not "much pain" when measured against levels I had caused prior to mid April).
No, I think my biggest about of emotional pain has come from feeling like I am forced to reinterpret how I am to understand the Bible.
I so desperately wanted to believe it was like an Owner's manual, where God spelled out very clearly how to live our lives so we could be happy while living even here in this sin-cursed world. However, I have come up against things in the last few years where that type of "formula" just doesn't seem to be found in scripture.
It hasn't turned out (for me anyway) to be a great self-help type of book. Especially not in the areas relating to sexuality.
As you have probably already read in the other thread - I have come very close to "losing my salvation" over this whole thing about what the Bible really is.

dennis,
the bible is the least self help book that there is.
in your hands as you read it, you have the very heart of Holy and Almighty God.
it is God's complete revelation of Himself to sinful condemned man.
the Word gives us all the attributes of God, all of which are wrapped in purity and holiness
He never promised us anything except tribulation in this life
He promised us that there is no good thing in man.
He promised us that we are worthy only of destruction.
yet He promised never to leave the elect.
through it all He promised never to lose any of those He gave to Jesus.
inspite of who we are, He promised us glory and victory at the cross.
to understand glory we need to understand God's purity.
to understand His mercy, we need to understand His wrath
the type of formula of which you speak, never existed.
peter

Dennis,
your song really hit home, I just wish soon there will be a brighter side of it.
My experience with Bible is somewhat different, I apply in an online course based on the Word, and have been set free ever since because of the Biblical truth in it, again, it is not the course that set me free, but the Bible in it that really breaks the bonds.
When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, "Who then can be saved?" But Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Then Peter said in reply, "See, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?"
Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first. (Mat 19:25-30)
By following (not just inviting Him....) Him, we receive this great promise! Why then shouldn't we cry to Him, plead Him to show the way, and joyfully walk down the path. For me that includes confession, asking help from my accountability partners to set up my perimeter (filters, passwords), and turn to God, keeping my eyes on Him, so He will keep me from stumbling.
Just my thoughts...

Hi Seeking God, you write that "we receive this great promise!" What is your intention by writing this and do you yourself enjoy this great promise now?
