Ah, but I did it. I reached the Cottonwood Pass summit, which is part of the Continental Divide. It took me three hours to bike 19.6 miles of uphill. Yeeesh!

It was so worth it. Not to mention, the ride down was glorious as I whizzed downhill at about 30 to 35 miles per hour for much of the way. ;)

And just look at all the snow that's still way up there!

:D

Way to go, Steve. So, did you have to walk up most of the hill and drag your bike along....or did you make it in a really low granny gear :D

Hey, I am proud of my 15 yr old daughter and her cycling. Last Saturday, she and a girl friend did 100 miles at a formal century ride!

She will go out for a quick spin - then she comes back and tells me about her riding with the big boys from the local racing club- and keeping up with them just fine.  The old man - and others- are going to have trouble keeping up with this gal!

Oh of course I peddled the whole way! :)

And I don't consider first gear a granny gear when I'm peddling at a 3% to 10% grade for much of the way! ;)

I gotta tell you - I feel so in shape from yesterday's ride. My next challenge is Independence Pass ... I've penciled in either Wednesday or Friday of next week to do that.
