Wow, Steve!  How gorgeous!!  How far and where is this related to the Springs?  Thanks again for sharing......I think it lifts us all above some of this stuff to think on other things, especially God and His creation!

Eagle County and all those towns of Vail, Minturn and Avon are about 2.5 to 3 hours away. It's definitely a drive if you live on the front range, but not too far from Buena Vista. ;)

I'm telling you, folks in Col. Sps. really need to go west to see more of Colorado. It is so beautiful! :)

Wish I could see it all!  We probably live 16-20 hours from there!  Consider yourself very blessed! :dude:

With all this talk about going west of CO Springs, you did not mention the word bike or bicycle once  :D. I am disappointed. Nor have I heard about your riding goals - if any - this year. I've been getting in my miles....but it has been raining off and on for days...

Well RTK, I biked 56 miles yesterday. Round trip from Buena Vista to Salida.

Today I biked a really steep 5-mile stretch near the summit of Cottonwood Pass, followed by 5 amazing miles riding at about 30 to 35 for much of the way. You can see photos here:

How's that?

Steve,

Thanks for the update. Pictures of corn fields, soybeans, vicious dogs, and crazy drivers  are about all I'd be able to show for my rides...and those pictures pale in comparison to the beauty of CO! I'm jealous :P  ....and it is raining again today!

It's raining here, too! ...and it has been for almost 2 weeks with not much different forcasted for the future, although I know you guys could use some of this rain in CO!  The "grass is always greener", right!  Anyway, thanks again for blessing us with sharing your photography and nature loving talents, Steve!!! :D

Those vicious dogs make for good race training! They grow 'em big here in central, IL!

Funny!  We're just south east of you in KY, which explains the weather similarities!

RTK, um, I'm sorry about the vicious dogs! You know, carrying a firearm might be a good idea if you have one of those small backpacks on your bike. (Maybe I'm nuts.)

Captivated, I thought you lived in Colorado Springs. My mistake! :(

Ooooooooh! My coffee is ready ... YIPPEE! :)

Beautiful photo! I miss the creek I used to live near ... it's so great to just sit and listen to water ... it's wonderful for the soul.

Rain here, too. Altho the sun is peeking out right now. We have a new fence we need to finish painting and the rain has been a major hassle for us. Southern Indiana here, we must be in the same weather system, bah!

Yes, I think so, Joel 2!  I grew up on the East coast, actually, and lived in Michigan for a while as well, so this in between weather has taken some getting used to!  Hope you get your fence finished!;)

I don't know about the small fire arms?!?  Out in the country like that, the dogs' owners are liable to have BIGGER fire arms!.....and to use them without a witness!  Yikess!!!  Anyway, enjoy the biking, guys!  You're both inspiring!:)

I just have many supernatural ties to the Springs, Steve!  It's been so funny how God has done it, too, because they've been through different channels!  Blazinggrace is only one of them!  So, I can understand why you would have thought I lived there!

Enjoy the coffee!!  ;)

I treated myself to some fast food in town. I had a big breakfast burrito and a breakfast tostada. Now I'm back home and heating water to make my second cup of coffee! :)

I know, I know, you so care about my food updates! :D

You are REALLY silly!  It's fun!  So your laptop gets reception in such places?  I guess I'm behind the times, tied to my desk top as I am!

You  sound like my husband...give him his Mexican food and coffee and he's a happy camper!  Bon appetite!

I have DSL in Buena Vista. We're not that isolated, although we kind of are, which is nice.

Here's this morning's photo of Mt. Princeton, by the way...

It's a biggie... :)

Either I didn't open the photo of the mountain correctly or it didn't go through, but I'd love to see it later!  Back to my reality....trying to shop with a 2nd grader and preschooler!  :?  At least they're my girls!  Boys tend to hate shopping and either complain more OR do things to amuze themselves, which don't necessarily amuze me!  :?  Love them all though! :)  Happy traveling!
