I am encouraged by Matthew 4 and Jesus' response to temptation. It has been my experience that the enemy's method of temptation isn't just to tempt to indulge the flesh one time during the day, if it happens once, usually they keep coming at you. The temptations-- all 10 or 20 of them hit you at once or one right after the other. So what I have found effective is saying out loud to the enemy, "It is Written" as Jesus said, and recite verses having to do with sexual purity. Among them--Eph 5:3, 2 Tim. 5:2, Job 31:1, and Romans 12:1 (I encourage you to formulate a list of verses (weapons to use at the enemy).
In addition the enemy hates praise. I have found that responding with songs of praise at the first sign of temptation is an effective way to eliminate that 'spirit' at work or fleshly desire.
in Christ,
Joe

| Absolutely, Joe. This works for me, too. Jesus Christ be praised - he is the Word of God, after all. I really love him.

Hey Setfree, this is great advice. I shall act upon it. Quoting Scripture to the enemy is a powerful weapon if we use it wisely. I also think of what Saint Paul wrote about rejoicing in the Lord "always" and letting Him know our prayer requests with giving of thanks. Somebody here will supply the verse reference which I don't have to hand at the moment. Stephen.

Hi Stephen,
The verses you are thinking of are in Philippians four. I hope you will read the entire chapter, as it is one of the most uplifting in Scripture.
Praying for all of you...
