I want to apologize for the the tone i expressed in the "giving up" thread if I offended anyone by that. I am not giving up, in fact its been a week and I only have one silp in the form of masturbating saturday day. But after that I stopped, normally in the past if I slip after a sobriety period I tend to binge and go-go-go, but I was able to pick up after that and keep running. NO nothing, no fantasies, no crap on TV, or on print, no meditating on stuff, no nothing.

Hi spe102580,
All of us experience times of discouragement. I am thankful to hear that you have clung to God through this one and been climbing upward.
Our pastor's Father's Day sermon was about pursuing righteousness. We had a teenager with us who hasn't been saved very long, so I wanted to supplement the message of righteousness with the message of mercy and grace. I said that I do not know anyone who has experienced a steadily climbing road of faith, that all I know have had a mix of smooth road and potholes, twisting road and straight, peaks and valleys, but we press on toward the goal of righteousness with God's forgiveness and restoration when we detour downhill. Then our son, who enjoys biking, observed that it is tough going uphill, but that is what strengthens our muscles, to which I added that while going downhill is easiest, it has no benefit, and if we aren't careful, we can crash hard. Satan is all too willing to beat us up for our deviations from the narrow way, so we must not help him, rather, humbly return to our gracious and merciful Saviour, who is always waiting with open arms.
