hey captivated aman to that about the worship music , somtimes thats all it takes to send us to victory Im trying out a new internet service ,my last service would get cut off all the time and I would lose all that I wrote so if you noticed a lot of mistakes it was because I did not want to lose what I wrote , so I would  write and send it as fast as I could any way Im just waiting to see if I get cut off, now now back to what Matt was saying  today I was thinking about seeds ,what is a bad seed and what will stop it ? a seed has to get in soil to grow ,we are the soil and some times it can be as easy as turning on a christian worship tape/cd to over come or picking up the bible and asking God to make it alive to us ,or getting on our nees and asking God for help, or just  sitting down and talking to God ,or droping our pride and calling a friend to talk on the phone, it can be any number of things, but one thin is certain we have to do somthing ,and it needs to be positive God Bless  time to run:D

Very good point isolated, I definitely need to continue placing myself in good soil.  Another resource that I've found useful is http://www.biblegateway.com  Sometimes, when I'm at work and don't have my bible close, I can just jump on this website, read a few verses, get refocused and keep walking.

I have just started to read a book called 'breaking free' after reading 'every mans battle' and  'Setting captives free', and it is a true blessing to hear honest and real peoples struggles with the temptations that are found in this world. I know that I too have really struggled to resist the lusts of my mind and body and been captive by my sin, I also know that if I had not become a Christian I would not truly know what a real battle fighting sin really is........it all comes back to the cross......every single time.....the cross....it is the only thing in this world that truly makes sense!Jesus really is different, he did it, he overcame every thing that man cannot do. when people ask me why I became a christian i have nothing to say but 'i became a christian because I realised I have no control over the universe, or over what happens to me when I die or even things that I desire but do me no good. the only one I have ever seen that beat all this is the one i read about called Jesus. he did it, so I put my life in his hands!". Guys you are all in his hands, keep fighting to hold onto his light. Please pray for me aswell (only if you want to) as I struggle to fight the things that do me no good and as  i find more of jesus in the process.

ado,

Very courageous of you to check in.  Just a curious question.  Ever think of getting an internet filter that you can't turn off or that someone else has the password to?  I don't know your situation, so I don't mean to assume, but something like this might help.

praying for you,

matt

Ado,keep going. When the 'prodical son' retuned home he only did so after he realised what a mess he had got himself into. Its a miracle his father welcomed him back with open arms!! but he did ,and he did gladly.Be aware of tiredness, and other negative feelings and chuck them out to the cross. Its at these times that the reasoning to sin starts to win if we give it a foothold(temptations to use the computer when we don't really need to, is a classic temptation). Maybe u can try 'safe eyes'.praying for y'

I'm trying to stay committed to checking in here daily and posting how I've done the past day, so here's day 3.  I was sober yesterday with only a minor issue.  My wife and I had a quick mis-communication that elevated failry quickly.  She had to leave right after, so a quick passing thought entered my mind to medicate it the way I always have in the past.  I prayed a quick prayer, "God create in me a clean heart" and went on about doing what I was doing.

Checking in here more often really seems to help me stay focused on practicing healthy behaviors and that's really exciting.  Other than that, things are going really great right now, no complaints.

I just got a migraine headache which has been a trigger in the past, so I'm trying to stay focused on just feeling the pain and thanking God for the blessings he's provided, rather than medicating it all away.

Thanks for listening,

matt

Iso,

I've not heard of the book or the author.  Are they along the same lines as the Left Behind series?  That does sound interesting.

be healthy

Also, if you click the spell checker, it should color the words that are mis-spelled.  If you click on a mis-spelled word, it will give you a list of correct options.  Hope this helps.

Howdy All!

Just checking in.  Been struggling (and failing) a lot this week.  Today we got hit with 6" of snow, but I left the house.  I'm currently sitting in a coffee shop updating a computer program which I've done for our church.  I've also got my headphones on with worship music on it.  My wife & daughter got home last night from a week at my in-laws and are currently at an indoor water park.  I went once and decided to never go back because it isn't healthy for me.  So, I let them go and have a good time.

I'm picking them up in an hour and we're going to see Yours, Mine, And Ours.  I'm looking forward to some good family time.

Hope you're all doing well today.

Godspeed.

Ed

I would love to hear what worship music your listening to at the moment, I sometimes struggle with chriatian music... I end up judging the wusic rather than appreciate the meaning. Please could you let me know what cds etc you're listening to. Thanks all...battle going well, although I feel really tempted today. Going to church this evening (working with youth)hoping to get some good fellowship there- sort me out!

I've learned that I don't need to be anywhere near beaches, pools or waterparks.  This really stinks because I love the beach.  I applaud you for making a healthy choice, I'm sure it was difficult.

iso,

I struggle with video stores also, so I don't go anymore unless my wife is with me.  Even then it can be a struggle if I'm not careful.  Lots of past triggers and thoughts can come flooding in.

Hey, Carli!

Yes, the enemy would love to distract you from entering into worship by picking apart the theology of the song.  Press past this, pray about it, etc....  Mostly, I listen to LOTS of Hilsong worship cd's and can really feel the weight of my own "stuff" as well as issues with my husband lift off as the Holy Spirit moves.....much of my personal healing has taken place in tears on the floor to things like this.....or with arms and face lifted in surrender to Him.....and even jumping/dancing around with joy at times.  Worship music is the only sort of music I can truly delight fully in dancing to, in fact!  Anyway, I also have listened to the 2 Michael W. Smith worship cd's......several cd's from a church in Colorado Springs called New Life Church (check their site on line).....and some cd's with a mixture of songs from various artists.  I also listen to messages on line from this same church on a regular basis in way of "renewing my mind" since I'm an auditory learner and sometimes when one is struggling, it's not enough of a distraction to sit down and read and pray.....we need to get moving physically like on a tredmill, out  side, etc....so we can listen to something while we move and renew our minds and refresh our spirits at the same time.  Anyway, prayed for you, sister!;)  Be blessed!

hi, today is usually the worst day for me as far as temptations coming. This morning I have been bombarded with lustful thoughts since waking up, and felt very weak. the temptation to act on this is not good. (this is one of those days where full relapse is really very real)Just wanted to share this. Thanks

Glad you shared.  You're prayed for.  I'm guessing a part of this increased struggle is due to more time and increased loneliness on your hands....and less routine, as during the week.  Just wondering if it would help to have an activity or hobby to plan to do each Sat morning....early if necessary.  Maybe meet a friend to run or pray or hike......or an indoor or outdoor sport you schedule for this time....a job.....I don't know....  Anyway, you are not alone.  Praying God will also let you know His care for you in a special way today. :)
