I’m Mike Genung, founder of Blazing Grace.
I struggled with multiple forms of sexual sin from my teen years until 1999, which included porn, masturbation, promiscuity, adultery, and sex with prostitutes. After being in bondage to sexual sin for 20 years, eight of which were spent in various recovery programs, I was set free after finally putting all my hope and trust in God.

Because the church didn’t talk about sex or porn, I assumed I was a freak. But when I saw the surveys in 1999 that showed 50% of Christian men were viewing porn, I was shocked. How could so many Christians be struggling with a sin so devastating that it destroys marriages, yet no one is talking about it?
That was 1999. Today’s surveys show that two thirds of Christian men are viewing porn… and those are just the honest ones. Christian women are struggling with this too; women are the fastest growing segment when it comes to viewing pornography.
Blazing Grace is launched
Because I wanted to help others, I started a grace-centered support group for men in 2000. The group grew, and I started writing articles. I discovered a love for writing, and in 2004 set up the Blazing Grace website.
When I was in bondage to lust I was desperate for answers, not only about how to break free, but how to heal my marriage. Adultery is one of the most traumatic events a couple has to recover from; many marriages don’t make it.
I can’t stand seeing a family ripped apart because of sexual sin. It’s frustrating knowing that the church has the answers and could save many marriages but often misses the opportunity because leadership is afraid to talk about sex or isn’t equipped in that area.

Counseling and Groups
We (Tim Peterson, Sandy England and myself) offer counseling for individuals and couples, over the phone and at our office. For those who want to make significant progress fast, we offer two-day intensives in our office in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and in Arkansas where Tim Peterson is based out of. International Partners
We have ministry partners in Austria who have translated my books in German for Germany, Switzerland, and Austria; Italy, where my books are available in Italian, and Finland – we recently set up Blazing Grace Finland. I’ve spoken in churches in the United Kingdom (which is the second largest consumer of porn in the world) filmed our 6 part video series near London, and hope to find a ministry partner in the UK soon.
The Rogue Christian
After years of helping men and women heal from sexual sin in their marriage, I saw the same themes repeatedly. Many Christians are isolated, in bondage or struggling in different areas (lust, fear, anger, anxiety, depression), know little about spiritual warfare, and don’t have a strong prayer life, even though they’ve attended church for decades. Reading the books of Acts where the early church was “devoted to the teaching of God’s word, prayer, and fellowship” (Acts 2:42) and comparing it to the modern church, where the prayer meeting has often become extinct, formed the idea that today a Biblical Christian is a Rogue Christian. In 2020 I founded The Rogue Christian and wrote what would be the first of two Rogue Christian books with the intent of equipping God’s people to be overcomers and prayer warriors.
My family
I’ve been married to Michelle since 1989. We have four wonderful children and live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. By God’s grace our marriage has recovered and healed from the hell of my porn addiction and adultery. One of the most precious moments in our marriage was when Michelle read a letter she wrote, telling me she forgave me for hurting her. We were both in tears.

* God put every couple together, is passionate about your relationship, and that if both sides are willing to work through the process (which is not easy), and take the action steps required, in time you will experience healing, peace, and freedom.
